At Hamilton Day 2014 on April 24, 2014, the Hamilton Volunteer Rescue Squad (HVRS) introduced its newest unit: Gator 617. This medical unit is built on a Cushman 4WD utility vehicle with a custom medical sled used to access tight spaces in areas where a full size ambulance just cannot travel. With Hamilton’s close proximity to the W&OD trail system and having the Loudoun County Fair Grounds within our first due response, the Gator will offer a better way to deliver medical services to the community during special events.
The unit was built by the hands of HVRS volunteers, greatly reducing the cost of construction. The unit was purchased with funds made possible by community donations and the squad’s annual fund drive.
